VAF Wildcards
Each year, during the VAF Wildcards ceremony, the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) focuses on new-found film talent. Promising work by master students from the Flemish film schools is put in the spotlight per category, and a specialised jury hands out the prizes. The Wildcard winners not only get a spot on stage at the festival, their films also get their own programme.

VAF Wildcard Award Ceremony
The presentation of the VAF Wildcards is an absolute highlight for filmmakers and film lovers alike. For many past winners, a VAF Wildcard has meant an important step in their carreer. During the award ceremony, Olga Lucovnicova talks about her experience as a VAF Wildcard winner. She also presents the short documentary Object 817, which she made with the budget from her VAF Wildcard. In 2020, she won the VAF Wildcard for Nana Tudor. Her short film did not only win a Golden Bear, but also has a European Film Award to its name.
