HOW TO REACH LEUVEN
TRAIN
We encourage coming by public transport as much as possible. By train, Leuven is only a 20-minute journey from Brussels, 40 minutes from Antwerp, 50 minutes from Liège, 90 minutes from the Belgian coast and two to three hours from cities like Düsseldorf, Paris, Amsterdam, Calais ... In Leuven itself, De Lijn public transport buses can take you anywhere in the city.
THE INTERNATIONAL BUS
Thanks to various connections, you can also easily reach Leuven from abroad by bus. Book a seat through one of the following bus companies: OuiBus or Flixbus.
BY CAR
Leuven is located at the intersection of two motorways: E40 and E314. Leuven's cosy historic centre is traffic-free. The rest of the city centre is divided into five districts. In each part, a traffic loop leads cars from the ring road to a centre car park and back to the ring road. We recommend parking your car in one of the more economical peripheral car parks and then getting to the centre on foot or by bus.
AIRPLANE
If travelling by plane, it is best to fly into Brussels International Airport (Zaventem). There is a direct train between the airport and Leuven (15 min).
You can also fly into Brussels South (Charleroi), but this airport is 60 km from Brussels and 80 km from Leuven. If you arrive in Charleroi, it is recommended to travel to Leuven by train via Brussels.
